Timing can be selling point
Sunday Feb. 23, 2014
If the local real estate market is taking a breather this winter after a fast rebound, should you be thinking of selling?
I can't find any reasonably sane analyst who thinks the recent cooling of the selling pace is prelude to another housing disaster. In fact, some real estate pros tell me 2014 is off to a solid start, with numerous interested buyers competing for properties.
The sharp rebound that's in question - DataQuick's median selling price in January of $550,000 is 49 percent higher than the January 2009 low - has put lots of owners in an enviable and profitable position. Recent homebuying activity, though, has fallen below year-earlier levels for four consecutive months.
If that kind of price jump and sales stall gives you a whiff of "Should I sell?," here's something to ponder as you walk yourself through the process.
